Early Palm Beach County History Through Photography [LW]
COCONUT DREAMS TAKES YOU BACK IN TIME. Thirty black and white, sepia, and hand tinted photographic images taken between 1912 through 1924. The photographer, A. Romyn Pierson III, exquisitely captured the lush tropical wilderness and romantic coconut groves that were once Ocean Ridge, Manalapan, Hypoluxo Island, Lantana and Lake Worth. The enlarged images reprinted on canvas illustrate the barrenness and beauty of coastal Palm Beach County as it was a century ago. Historians and authors, Professor Janet DeVries Naughton and Dr. Ginger Pedersen curated the exhibit using historic photographs they discovered in a crumbling album. Presentation by Professor Janet Naughton and Dr. Ginger Pedersen. This event is free and open to PBSC students, faculty, and staff.
